Start with content and viewing needs

The right subscription depends on whether you move between Korean dramas and international series, follow weekly broadcasts or sports, or mainly watch anime. This guide compares eight services available in South Korea by content, price and viewing conditions.

Start by checking where the exact titles and seasons you want are available. A service may carry both subscription titles and separate purchases. Then compare TV support, advertising, picture quality and simultaneous streams to narrow the plans you need.

For family viewing, profiles and simultaneous streams are different. Profiles keep viewing histories separate; the service’s account terms determine who can share access and on which devices.

Monthly prices in South Korea

These are official Korean web prices checked on October 28, 2026. Free trials, telecom discounts and app-store prices are excluded. Each service’s official plan page gives the price and conditions that apply when you pay.

Netflix

Netflix’s range is useful if a Korean drama such as Squid Game leads you to an international thriller or documentary. It suits a watchlist that crosses genres rather than staying with one studio or type of programme.

The ad-supported plan costs ₩7,000 a month and ad-free Standard ₩13,500. Premium at ₩17,000 is needed for 4K. Start by deciding whether removing ads is worth the extra ₩6,500 each month.

Disney+

Disney+ is a clear option if you regularly revisit Marvel films or Pixar titles such as Toy Story. Star Wars, National Geographic and Korean originals add to the catalogue, but the useful question is which series you will actually return to.

Standard costs ₩9,900 for Full HD and two simultaneous streams; Premium costs ₩13,900 for up to 4K and four streams. Paying more is less useful if you do not need the higher resolution or extra streams.

TVING

Consider TVING if you regularly follow tvN, JTBC or Mnet programmes, including You Quiz on the Block, or KBO baseball. A recurring programme or match makes it easier to judge whether you will use the subscription throughout the month.

Monthly plans range from ₩5,500 with ads to ₩17,000 for Premium. Expanded access to four streams and higher video quality on lower tiers lasts only until January 31, 2027; distinguish that promotion from the normal plan.

Wavve

Wavve is worth checking for missed KBS or MBC programmes and older broadcasts. It suits viewers who choose by broadcaster or episode rather than focusing only on new releases.

For TV viewing, plan names can be misleading. Ad-supported Standard at ₩5,500 offers Full HD, two streams and TV access. Ad-free Basic at ₩7,900 provides HD and one stream but no TV access. Standard at ₩10,900 supplies both TV access and ad-free viewing. Individual film purchases cost extra.

Apple TV

Having an original such as Slow Horses or Silo on your watchlist gives you a specific reason to choose Apple TV. It is better suited to focusing on a few series than to catching up on a broad range of broadcasts. Pluribus, shown in the image, is another original.

The monthly subscription is ₩6,500. Supported Android devices, smart TVs and the web work without an iPhone. Films sold or rented inside the Apple TV app are not all included in the subscription.

Coupang Play

Coupang Play lets you check free content and benefits you may already hold before adding another paid subscription. Titles featured on the homepage, including SNL Korea, Infinite Challenge and Harry Potter, do not necessarily share the same access conditions.

HBO is a WOW-member benefit; sports passes and some individual titles require separate payment. For a particular match, check the league, fixture and required pass before comparing the total price.

WATCHA

Include WATCHA in your comparison if you choose from a saved film list or look for Japanese and Chinese dramas. Its catalogue can also be browsed by film, series and animation.

Basic costs ₩7,900 a month and Premium ₩12,900. Individual purchases are separate, so finding a title on the service is only the first step: check how it can be watched.

Laftel

If anime makes up most of your watchlist, Laftel may be a useful first comparison. For weekly releases or a long series such as One Piece, check the title and season together.

Web billing is ₩9,900 for Basic and ₩14,900 for Premium. Premium includes four profiles and four simultaneous streams. The service is for use in Korea, and app-store prices differ from web prices.

Standalone plans, bundles or annual subscriptions?

Compare bundles when you regularly use both services

TVING and Wavve’s Double ad-supported Standard costs ₩7,000 a month; Double Standard costs ₩15,000. Disney+ with TVING Standard costs ₩18,000, or ₩21,500 with Wavve Standard added. Separate TVING and Wavve ad-supported subscriptions total ₩11,000, so the ₩7,000 bundle saves ₩4,000 if you use both. If you only use one, its ₩5,500 standalone plan costs less.

Alternate monthly subscriptions for one series at a time

Keeping Netflix with ads and Apple TV for two months costs ₩27,000. Using Netflix for one month and Apple TV the next costs ₩13,500 in total. You cannot watch a service during the month you are not subscribed, but this can suit finishing one series before moving to another.

Compare annual plans when you expect to keep watching

Twelve monthly payments for Disney+ Standard total ₩118,800, compared with ₩99,000 for an annual plan. The difference is ₩19,800 over a full year, but monthly payments cost less if you only intend to watch for two or three months. When changing to a bundle, compare the end date of your existing subscription with the new billing date.

Compare by viewing purpose

Services differ in the content they make convenient to find and the conditions attached to access. Use the table to identify options for your viewing plans, then compare prices and the availability of your exact titles.

Before completing your payment

  1. Check the season, subtitled or dubbed version, and whether the required title is included in your plan.
  2. Review today’s charge, the next renewal date and any costs overlapping with existing memberships.
  3. Check official cancellation and refund terms, supported devices and permitted account use.

One option is to keep the service carrying your weekly viewing and add others by the month when a particular title interests you. Decide by the content and time you will use, rather than the discount alone.
